If you’re visiting the Costa del Sol this Easter and are travelling into Malaga Airport, you may want to take note that there is a taxi strike planned for the Easter week.
From 25th March at 6am until 1st April at 6am, the 200 or so taxi drivers at Malaga Airport here on the Costa del Sol will be refuelling their long running battle against the decree which was passed way back in 1985 which was the 11/85 decree.
Unfortunately for the taxi drivers, the decree allows taxi drivers from outside of the airport to pick up passengers that have pre-arranged their transfers. This means that the drivers are not allowed to drop passengers off then pick up, or pick up passengers that have not arranged to be picked up in advance.
This has naturally annoyed the local airport taxi drivers and is why they will be staging this week long protest during one of the airports busiest times of year.
It is worth noting that the protests do not affect Malaga City itself, only the airport.

UPDATE: We have now been informed that the taxi drivers and Junta de Andalucia have come to an agreement and that the industrial action will no longer go ahead.
