Fuengirola is a lively, bustling town and offers many shops, bars, restaurants and one of the biggest and loveliest beaches on the Costa del Sol, but did you know that slap-bang in the center of the town you can also find one of its most popular attractions?
If you are planning on visiting the Costa del Sol this summer, why not head to the Fuengirola Bioparc Zoo where you can see a host of birds, mammals and reptiles from all over the world.
Formerly known as the Fuengirola Zoo, it has in recent years undergone a large amount of work focusing on the architectural design of the Zoo. It was also renamed to the “Fuengirola Bioparc” as the owners felt that it best described the experience in which the visitors are “immersed” into the animals surroundings which gives you the impression that you are at one with them within their natural habitat.
The Bioparc has three main areas which include Madagascar, Equatorial Africa and South East Asia. A number of the animals in these areas are considered to be in danger of extinction including one of the most recent editions, Geluk the Pygmy Hippopotamus.
If you need a break from looking at the animals and need refreshments, there is a lovely restaurant on offer selling nice cold drinks and tasty snacks. There is also a shop where you can buy those all important souvenirs of your stay and a children’s area to let the little ones burn off some energy.
When Is The Bioparc Zoo Open?
The Fuengirola Bioparc Zoo is open every single day of the year from 10am and closes at around 6pm. In July and August, the Zoo closes at midnight.
Where is the Fuengirola Bioparc Zoo Located?
The Zoo is located just off of the Fuengirola high street, pretty much right in the center of town. Please see map below.
How Much Does It Cost?
Access costs €17.50 for adults, €12.10 for children and pensioners over 65.
There are also a number of great discounts for group bookings and also a 15% discount for families. Please note that you must provide a marriage certificate but passports may be sufficient.
If you live in the Costa del Sol, you can also purchase a yearly pass which not only allows you access all year round but also provides other benefits including discounts in the shop and restaurant, free access to Valencia Bioparc and more.
